HyperSkill June Update: Offline VR, Quizzes, Vocab, SCORM, and Courses
May brought classroom management and a richer analytics dashboard. June builds on that foundation with the most-requested infrastructure upgrade to date: full offline VR mode. Alongside that, lessons are now complete with quizzes and vocabulary, Skillful gains organization profiles and a Courses catalog, and SCORM integration arrives for LMS deployments. Here’s everything new.
VR Now Runs Fully Offline
This is the feature that unlocks HyperSkill for manufacturing floors, hospital training rooms, trade school labs, and any environment where Wi-Fi is unreliable, restricted, or simply unavailable. Starting this month, the HyperSkill VR app launches and runs with no internet connection required.
We didn’t just flip a flag — we rebuilt the underlying download and runtime pipeline to make this solid:
- VR app launches without an internet connection
- Offline logging captures all learner actions locally
- Session data auto-syncs when connectivity is restored
- Microphone initialization fixed in offline mode
- Skillful simulations now fully downloadable
- Audio & TTS download issues resolved
- Multi-download support for batch sim downloads
- Offline load times significantly improved
The offline pipeline also delivers a major performance win: large simulation load times have been dramatically reduced through optimized virtual object spawning. In testing across two complex simulations, average load times dropped from 15s → 8s and 29s → 11s — a 47–62% reduction. Whether you’re online or off, simulations load faster.
For enterprise and institutional customers, this changes the deployment calculus entirely. A headset pre-loaded with simulations can now be handed to a learner on a factory floor, in a clinic breakroom, or on a field site — no network required, with full-fidelity analytics captured and waiting to sync.
Lessons Are Now Complete: Quizzes, Vocab, and AI Content
May introduced the lesson builder. June finishes it. Teachers can now add quizzes and vocabulary modules directly to lessons alongside simulations, readings, and assessments — creating a fully structured learning sequence from a single authoring surface.
The Add Content step in lesson creation now surfaces the full Skillful simulation library alongside AI-suggested content blocks — pre-assessments, readings, vocabulary sets, and post-assessments — all ready to add with a single click. Teachers can search the catalog, mix and match Skillful sims with AI-generated materials, and have a complete lesson ready in minutes.
A Words Per Minute tracker has also been added to reading content, giving teachers visibility into how learners are engaging with text-based materials inside lessons.
Skillful: Organization Profiles
Skillful now has a dedicated Organizations directory, making it easy to discover simulations published by universities, community colleges, hospitals, and industry partners. Each organization gets a full profile page with their logo, mission, and a gallery of all their published simulations.
Skillful: Courses
Beyond individual simulations, Skillful now offers Courses — structured learning paths built from curated lessons created by industry experts and leading organizations. The catalog already includes multi-lesson programs from ASME, with more on the way.
SCORM Integration
HyperSkill simulations can now be published as SCORM packages for deployment in any compatible LMS. For organizations running Canvas, Moodle, Cornerstone, or other SCORM-compliant platforms, this means HyperSkill content fits directly into your existing training infrastructure — no custom integration work required.
VR Improvements
Resizable Quiz
Quiz panels in VR are now fully resizable — authors can control both scale and individual width/height dimensions, giving precise control over how assessments appear in the 3D environment. Fit a quiz comfortably into any scene without the panel overwhelming the space.
Gaze Detection for Authoring
Authors can now use gaze detection as a trigger in the simulation state machine. This opens up hands-free interaction design — creating moments that activate when a learner looks at an object, without requiring a grab or button press.
Additional Fixes & Polish
- TTS download fix — text-to-speech audio now downloads correctly alongside simulation assets.
- Multi-download — multiple simulations can be queued and downloaded simultaneously.
- 47–62% faster large sim loading — optimized virtual object spawning cut average load times from 15s→8s and 29s→11s in testing.

About HyperSkill
HyperSkill is a no-code 3D simulation platform for both Virtual and Augmented Reality. HyperSkill was created to enable instructional designers to create immersive training content without having to learn programming. HyperSkill includes thousands of 3D assets and simulations that are accessible for free to users.
About SimInsights
SimInsights’ mission is to democratize the creation of 3D, interactive, immersive, and intelligent (I³) simulations. We believe that simulations are the most impactful way to learn, yet few people can actually leverage them as a creative medium. SimInsights offers HyperSkill, a no-code tool to enable everyone to capture their knowledge in the form of 3D immersive, AI-powered simulations and share it with others.
